What is Yoga?

  • Yoga is a series of poses (asanas) that build strength, flexibility.
  • These poses help to improve one's ability to concentrate and focus. Inverted poses in particular have beneficial effect on the mind and brain function. This is due to the copious amounts of blood supplied to this region when one is upside down.
  • The action of stretching, strengthening and re-alignment of the body, improves breathing, relaxes muscles and allow the practitioner to let go of tension.
  • Yoga poses, by improving the functioning of all internal organs, blood vessels and nerves brings about better health.
  • The health issues that we all worry about such as diabetes, obesity, and allergies can be helped by the action of stretching in poses. Stretching allows the free flow of oxygen, hormones and essential nutrients to all parts of the body.
